Labiaplasty and Vaginal Rejuvenation

Genital aesthetics is the general term for surgical procedures that aim to improve the appearance and function of the external female genital area. The most frequently performed procedures are reduction of the inner labia (labiaplasty), tightening of a vaginal canal that has widened due to childbirth or ageing (vaginoplasty), and filling thinned outer labia with the patient’s own fat tissue.

These procedures are not only about appearance. Excess tissue of the inner labia can cause friction, irritation and discomfort while dressing, exercising or during intercourse. At Op. Dr. Mert Seçer’s clinic, each procedure is planned after an examination and a detailed consultation, according to the patient’s anatomy and expectations.

LABIAPLASTY

Inner Labia Aesthetics

Labiaplasty is the surgical correction of sagging, enlargement or asymmetry of the inner labia (labia minora). By removing excess tissue, the labia gain a neater, more symmetrical and youthful appearance.

Who Is It Suitable For?

  • Women whose inner labia are naturally large or asymmetrical
  • Women who have developed sagging of the inner labia after childbirth or with age
  • Women who experience friction and irritation from clothing, sport or intercourse
  • Anyone who feels uncomfortable with the appearance of the area

The anaesthesia method and the duration of the procedure are planned individually during the examination.

VAGINAL TIGHTENING

Vaginoplasty

With multiple births and ageing, the vaginal canal and the surrounding muscle tissue may loosen. Vaginoplasty surgically narrows the widened canal and strengthens the surrounding tissue, aiming to restore a condition close to that before childbirth.

Laxity can lead to complaints such as reduced sensation during intercourse or a feeling of air escaping from the vagina. Surgical tightening aims to reduce these complaints. At our clinic, vaginal tightening is performed surgically.

For women planning future pregnancies, the timing of the procedure is discussed together during the examination.

OUTER LABIA FILLING

Restoration with Fat Injection

Thinning and volume loss of the outer labia (labia majora) may occur due to ageing, weight loss or natural anatomy. In such cases, the patient’s own fat tissue is harvested from the abdomen or thighs, processed and injected into the outer labia to achieve a fuller, more youthful appearance.

Since the patient’s own tissue is used, no foreign substance is introduced into the body. Because part of the injected fat may be absorbed by the body over time, a second session may be needed in some patients.

AFTER SURGERY

Recovery Process

Swelling, bruising and tenderness in the area for a while after surgery are expected. The stitches used fall out on their own and do not need to be removed.

  • Sport should be avoided for one week after surgery.
  • Sexual activity can be resumed once the stitches have fallen out, i.e. after about 2–3 weeks.
  • During this period, attention should be paid to hygiene and the care instructions provided should be followed.

RISKS

What You Should Know

As with any surgical procedure, genital aesthetic surgery carries certain risks. Swelling and bruising are expected. Other possible risks include bleeding, infection, delayed wound healing, asymmetry and a result that does not meet expectations; in some cases a corrective procedure may be required. Risks are discussed in detail during the examination, taking into account the patient’s anatomy and general health.

When can I exercise after labiaplasty?

You should avoid sport for one week after surgery.

Sexual activity can be resumed once the stitches have fallen out, i.e. after about 2–3 weeks.

Do the stitches need to be removed?

No. The stitches fall out on their own and do not need to be removed.
