Arm Lift

ARM LIFT
Brachioplasty
An arm lift (brachioplasty) is an aesthetic surgical procedure in which sagging skin and excess fat on the upper arms are removed to give the arms a firmer and smoother appearance. The arms are among the most visible parts of the body, so sagging arms noticeably affect the overall appearance.
Arm sagging usually develops as the skin loses its elasticity due to ageing or rapid weight gain and loss. At Op. Dr. Mert Seçer’s clinic, arm lift surgery is performed for both women and men, and the operation is planned during the examination according to the patient’s skin and fat condition.
WHO IS IT SUITABLE FOR?
Sagging Upper Arms
An arm lift is intended for people who are bothered by the appearance of sagging upper arms.
- People with sagging skin on the upper arms
- People who have developed laxity in the arms after rapid weight gain and loss
- People whose arm skin has lost elasticity with age
- People who are not satisfied with the appearance of their arms despite exercise and diet
- People whose weight is stable and whose general health is suitable for surgery
HOW IS IT PERFORMED?
Removing Excess Skin and Fat
During arm lift surgery, the sagging excess skin and excess fat tissue on the arm are removed, and the remaining skin is tightened to reshape the arm. The operation takes approximately 1–2 hours.
The incision is planned on the inner side of the arm so that it is as inconspicuous as possible when the arm is at the side. The length of the scar varies depending on the degree of sagging, and the scar fades over time.
AFTER SURGERY
Recovery Process
The anaesthesia method is planned individually during the examination.
- Swelling, bruising and a feeling of tightness in the arms during the first days are expected.
- You may be asked to wear an arm compression garment for a while to reduce swelling and help the tissues settle.
- During this period, the arms should not be strained and the care instructions provided should be followed.
RISKS
What You Should Know
As with any surgical procedure, an arm lift carries certain risks. Swelling, bruising and temporary numbness are expected. Other possible risks include bleeding, infection, visible scarring, delayed wound healing, fluid accumulation, asymmetry and a result that does not meet expectations. Risks are discussed in detail during the examination, taking into account the patient’s health.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How long does arm lift surgery take?
Arm lift surgery takes approximately 1–2 hours.
Who is an arm lift for?
It is performed for women and men who have developed sagging skin on the upper arms due to ageing or rapid weight gain and loss.
Does an arm lift leave a scar?
The incision is planned on the inner side of the arm so that it is as inconspicuous as possible when the arm is at the side. The scar fades over time.
Can exercise fix sagging arms?
Exercise strengthens the arm muscles, but skin that has lost its elasticity and sagged does not tighten with exercise. In this case an arm lift is needed to correct the sagging.
Is an arm lift also performed on men?
Yes. Arm lift surgery can be performed on both women and men.
Do I need to wear a compression garment after an arm lift?
You may be asked to wear an arm compression garment for a while to reduce swelling and help the tissues settle. The duration is determined at follow-up visits.
