Neck Aesthetics

NECK AESTHETICS
Neck Lift and Double Chin Liposuction
Neck aesthetics is the general term for surgical procedures that aim to achieve a younger, more defined neck and jawline by correcting fat accumulation, laxity and sagging in the neck and under the chin. The neck is one of the areas where signs of ageing are most visible, and it directly affects the overall appearance of the face.
With age, the skin of the neck loses elasticity, the neck muscles loosen and fat may accumulate under the chin. As a result, the jawline becomes less defined and bands and folds form on the neck. At Op. Dr. Mert Seçer’s clinic, the most suitable procedure is determined during the examination by evaluating the fat, muscle and skin of the neck together.
WHO IS IT SUITABLE FOR?
Signs of Ageing on the Neck
Neck aesthetics is intended for people who look older or fuller than they are because of fat or sagging in the neck and under the chin.
- People with fat accumulation under the chin (double chin)
- People with loose and sagging neck skin
- People with visible vertical bands or folds on the neck
- People whose chin–neck angle has become less defined
- People whose general health is suitable for surgery
DOUBLE CHIN LIPOSUCTION
Fat Under the Chin
In patients with good skin elasticity, especially younger patients, fat under the chin can be removed with liposuction alone. Excess fat is removed with fine cannulas through incisions of a few millimetres placed under the chin and behind the ears.
Skin that has kept its elasticity retracts on its own after the fat is removed, and the jawline becomes more defined. Because the incisions are very small, the scars are barely visible. In patients with significant skin sagging, liposuction alone may not be enough; in this case a neck lift is planned.
NECK LIFT
Tightening Muscle and Skin
In patients with skin sagging and muscle laxity, a neck lift is performed. In this operation, excess fat in the neck is removed with liposuction, the loosened neck muscles are tightened and excess skin is lifted to eliminate sagging.
The incisions are usually hidden under the chin and around the ears, within natural creases. Treating fat, muscle and skin together gives the neck a smoother, younger and longer-lasting appearance.
AFTER SURGERY
Recovery Process
The anaesthesia method and duration of the procedure are planned individually during the examination. Depending on their condition, the patient may be discharged on the same day or may stay in hospital for observation and monitoring.
- Swelling, bruising and a feeling of tightness in the neck during the first days are expected.
- You may be asked to wear a neck compression band for a while to reduce swelling and help the tissues settle.
- During this period, the care instructions provided should be followed.
RISKS
What You Should Know
As with any surgical procedure, neck aesthetic surgery carries certain risks. Swelling, bruising and temporary numbness are expected. Other possible risks include bleeding and blood collection (haematoma), infection, visible scarring, skin irregularities, asymmetry and a result that does not meet expectations. Risks are discussed in detail during the examination, taking into account the patient’s health.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is the difference between double chin liposuction and a neck lift?
Double chin liposuction only removes excess fat under the chin. In a neck lift, in addition to removing fat, the loosened muscles are tightened and excess skin is lifted to correct sagging.
Is double chin liposuction alone enough?
It is enough for patients with good skin elasticity, as the skin retracts on its own after the fat is removed. If there is significant skin sagging, a neck lift is needed.
Does neck aesthetic surgery leave scars?
Double chin liposuction is performed through incisions of a few millimetres, so the scars are barely visible. In a neck lift, the incisions are hidden under the chin and around the ears, within natural creases.
Do I need to stay in hospital after neck aesthetic surgery?
Depending on their condition, the patient may be discharged on the same day or may stay in hospital for observation and monitoring. This is planned during the examination.
How long does neck aesthetic surgery take?
The duration and the anaesthesia method depend on whether only liposuction or a neck lift is performed; they are planned during the examination.
Does the fat come back after double chin liposuction?
The removed fat cells do not come back. However, with significant weight gain the remaining fat cells in the area can enlarge, so maintaining your weight is important.
